Hyphen Boy pattern - Adult Sideways Sockyarn Sweater

Matthew (aka Hyphen Boy) says: "This sweater pattern has two sources of inspiration. The first source of inspiration is the Sideways Sockyarn Baby Sweater, and the second source was the dog sweaters I knit from Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn. I was leary about the Noro sockyarn being soft enough for a sweater; but the first time I washed the dog sweaters, I discovered that the washed garment was much, much softer! Unlike the baby version of this sweater, the adult version is a V-neck because the very light weight of the knitting would be particularly susceptible to sagging if the buttons had any heft to them. The adult version could very easily be worked as a cardigan by omitting the kitchener stitch seam up the front and knitting a ribbing button-band instead.

The pattern includes instructions for six sizes from a 38" finished chest to a 58" chest; the sleeve and body length proportions are sized for women, but instructions for adjusting for male proportions are included. The prototype sweater was knit in the largest size using no more than 5 skeins of sock yarn, so knitting this sweater can be very economical. The test knitting revealed, however, that different knitters and different brands of sock yarn result in a different yardage requirement for the same size. The yardage requirements listed, therefore, are generous."
